Choosing Countertop Colors
There are many factors to take into account when you choose granite countertops colors. As well as selecting a color that appeals to you, you should also take into account other factors, such as the size of the room, existing color scheme and style of your kitchen or bathroom. Let’s explore each of these in turn.
The one factor that people sometimes get wrong is not considering the size of the room when choosing their granite or onyx countertops. Small rooms without much natural light can look dark. Adding a dark colored countertop into a small room can have the effect of making the room look even smaller. While small rooms with light colored countertops can make them look more spacious than they actually are.
And what’s the current color scheme like. If both your walls and units are white, then a light countertop will likely give the room a washed-out effect. But add a bold, darker color and you can transform an otherwise drab room. Black can work well with white, although it’s too much of a contrast for some people. So maybe a dark green would do the trick.
Finally you need to consider the style of your kitchen. If you have a very modern kitchen, then black granite will look superb. But adding a black countertop to something like a country style kitchen will not look good at all. So take some time to think about which colors you think will match the style you want.
Bathrooms deserve a special mention, as these are spaces than most people like to feel totally relaxed in. Bold and bright colors just won’t do it. A shade of beige or tan for your vanity countertops can have a calming effect, as can some green countertops. So choose a color that makes your feel stress-free.
If you follow the above advice, you shouldn’t have any problem finding the perfect color for your worktop.
