Interior Decorating 101 For Smaller Homes
Fashion and design don’t come naturally to everyone. The same can be said about interior decorating. Because there is so much out there are flooding the market, it gets a little confusing for lots of consumers. Couple that with the fact that many of them don’t understand the true basics of decorating, and you can easily end up with a disaster.
Having said that, it is important for each person to evaluate their home properly. Inspect it carefully and understand its architecture as a whole, and more particularly, each and every room. It is something that is made to function in a certain way, and if you aren’t planning on injecting tons of money into it, you’ll just have to keep in mind the way it is built, its bones, and work with them.
The dining room is a great place to start. If you entertain a lot, or even if you don’t, it’s important to find a dining room table set that works with the room, and more particularly its size.
If your room is on the narrow side, you may have to do away with any idea of adding a sideboard. Instead, maybe a curio in the corner would work better, as it would be tucked away in the corner, without interfering with traffic flow. You have to remember that you need extra space around the table so that you and your guests can sit down and get up, without any fear of chairs smashing into other furniture.
The bedrooms have also turned into a huge problem with many homeowners. This is partly due to the fact that they were always built in the past to accommodate for sleeping. However, they have now turned into rooms where multitasking is demanded of them. If they are on the small side, a conventional furniture might have to be ignored, if you really want the room to work properly and still allow for good traffic flow.
So, you may want to consider using wasted space. If you’re like most people, you’re probably thinking that you don’t have any wasted space in your room. But, if you consider a full size loft bed, rather than a conventional one, then you would be using the space to its fullest capacity.
If you or your children need a place to work or study, loft beds with desk could be the answer to simplifying the multitasking requirements of the given room, without clutter it.
