We all know how active our children can be in their young age. They can usually imitate what we are doing and try doing our tasks as well. One of our daily chores includes a lot of kitchen work. Our kids will then try to follow us inside our kitchens and touch the things we are using. Now we all know how dangerous it is around where we put the knives, the burner, and everything that is unsafe for our children. We would like to keep them away from these as much as possible.
The most effective way for this is to create a carefully designed kitchen that ensures the safety of our children. A child friendly kitchen will enable us to have a worry-free environment for us and our kids.
All that we need for this project is properly and carefully plan for the areas and things that we want our child to avoid touching and getting contact with.
Here are some of the possible set ups that we can do to our kitchens to ensure the safety of our kids:
· Kitchen cabinet plans
For this, we need to choose a cabinet from the lower areas and place all of the things that our kids use. Some of these are their kiddie’s bowls, plastic spoons, Barbie plates, and others. All of the things that we know they will be using should be in a lower cabinet. This way, they will not have to step on the stool to get them. Children stepping on the stools are the ones who get the most accidents like falling and tripping over.
· Pantries
There may be some foods and snacks that we do not like our children to take too much. Sometimes, when kids see a box of chocolates and a jar of cookies, they tend to want more and if we do not allow them, they will get it for themselves. We need to sort out the foods and place the ones we allow them to eat in a separate container. The others that we do not allow them need to stay in a place where we are the only ones to know. If we have small kids, we need to place them in the highest cabinet so that they couldn’t reach it. Remember, this is not being selfish to our children, but just controlling their intake of certain foods.
· Refrigerator
Sometimes, we keep our fridge full of foods at a time. We need to keep inside only the ones we like our children to eat like fruits. This way, they will not indulge with too much chocolate, ice creams, and others that are not that healthy for them.
· Sturdy step stool
Having a stool inside our kitchens will give the kids a chance to drag it and step on them to get into the higher cabinets. If possible, we need to have a sturdy one that is far from the cabinets so that they cannot drag them.
That is how we keep our kitchen a child friendly place for our kids.

Our kitchens are mostly exposed to water, and the materials around are related to water. These are the fridge, the sink, the dishwasher, the pipes and others. Due to this, we can sometimes be experiencing a lot of water damages. For us to prevent these from happening, we need to know how to take care and to regularly check if there are any problems within these areas.
The following are the areas that are often being allied with water damages:
· Refrigerator
We sometimes hardly inspect the area behind our refrigerators because it can be bit difficult to reach. Once in a while, we may encounter leak problems behind the fridge that we don’t even know at first. If there are any signs of leaks, we need to respond to it immediately.
We need to check for the connection of any water damage in our fridge. We also need to locate any moisture in the fridge that can be a source of the leak.
· Cooking Range
Though this is not directly related to water, there can also be some water damages that can happen with the cooking range. To check if there are any, we need to move the stove and search for any possible problems. If it is fixed on the wall, we can try removing the bottom drawer for us to look inside. In case of any signs of leaks, we can then clean the area and cover any leaks. If there are major repairs needed, we can call for a technician to fix it for us.
· Exhaust fans
These are the ones that release the heat from the kitchen. Sometimes, due to the moisture, it can be of damage involving water problems. To see if there are, we can check the bottom of the exhaust pan just on the wall so that we can have idea if there are any repairs needed.
· Sink and countertop
This is probably where most kitchen water damages come from. The sink is where we get most of the waters in the kitchen from. We need to regularly check it if there are leaks and problems with the pipes and all.
· Dishwasher
Dishwashers can be damaged if there are any openings in it, and the water will over flow. We need to check if there are holes in the back or in its doors so that we can see where the water is coming from. We also need to check for the hoses and drains if they are clogged. We can ask for the handyman’s help for this job if we do not know how to check them.
The most important advice to prevent any water problems in the kitchen would be to always keep it dry before leaving, and if there are any dripping visible, check the areas that are close to it to know what the problem is all about.
