If you’re like most families, you probably spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen. So why not make it more interesting by adding some color to the room? Maybe you don’t want a drab and dreary kitchen, but you don’t know quite how to add the right touch. Consider some of these easy ways in which you can add color to your kitchen, making it go from boring to beautiful.

Add Color by Dressing Up Your Table
One of the easiest ways to create a colorful kitchen is to dress up the kitchen table. Some colorful dishware can really spruce things up, as well as a colorful tablecloth or placemat set. Another way to achieve instantaneous color is by adding a centerpiece, such as flowers in a vase or basket on your oak dining room table. You want to try to find colors that complement your kitchen décor but add interest at the same time.

Add Color with a Backsplash
Your kitchen backsplash doesn’t have to be boring. You can always keep things simple with a neutral-colored tile or laminate, but you also have to option of venturing out a little and making things colorful. You have plenty of options, as tiles and laminates come in plenty of different colors that can be used for a backsplash. Another unique approach is to arrange broken-up colored glass in a random pattern on the wall. Whichever way you decide to go, not only will you add some color to the décor, but you’ll end up with a personalized, one-of-a-kind backsplash.

Paint an Accent Wall a Different Color
Is your kitchen painted a neutral color? Paint an accent wall a different color to add some more color to the room. Choose the wall that’s the least covered with cabinets or appliances. Be sure to pick an accent color that will work well with the rest of your kitchen’s décor. For a more subtle look, go with a matching color. But if you want the wall to really stand out, pick a color that’s complementary.

Take the Doors Off the Cabinets
When you take the doors off your kitchen cabinets, then you can showcase your colorful dishes and other tableware. If you have neutral dishes, add some pop by painting the insides of the cabinets a contrasting color. You don’t need to remove every cabinet door in your kitchen, but instead choose anywhere from one to four prominent cabinets and make them your “color cabinets.”

Use Window Treatments to Add Interest
Chances are, your kitchen has at least one window. Why not utilize that window area to add color? Whether you go with a valance or drapes, choose a window treatment in a color that will stand out. Red or purple window treatments would be a great way to add color to the room if you have, for example, a black-and-white or otherwise neutral kitchen.

You don’t need to redecorate the entire room in order to add color to your kitchen. Use what you already have and build some color into it, adding your own touches here and there around the room.

Epoxy floor paints are used on floors that are subjected to heavy vehicular and human traffic, like the garage and the basement. Good results can be made on concrete slabs, kennels, interior floors, wooden car trailers, brick pavers, shop floor, laundry room floors and pole barns. This coating can endure dirt, grease, water, oil and many other chemicals that would usually destroy other paint types in no time. Tough resins that are mixed during the application are responsible for this. And exactly this is what makes them the best option when it comes to price to quality ratio.

There are three types of epoxy adhesive paints. There aren’t any solvents that can evaporate in 100% solids, you need to know that. Second, solvent based epoxies adhere and penetrate well but they are hazardous to health and need that you ventilate your garage or basement well during application to avoid breathing the fumes that emanate from them. Thrid option are water based paints that have anti-slip texture, are cheaper and thinner while not containing any dangerous fumes. They require excellent ventilation to dry up though.

During application and drying of epoxy floor paints, clean the floor with a hard bristled brush and sweep away the debris, then scrub warm soapy water on the concrete floor and sweep it away also. Use water and degreaser to rinse off all those soluble contaminants that are on the floor surface. To be sure that your concrete floor is clean, the rinsing water should not stick on the floor. The garage floor should then be left overnight to dry. Wait for the morning and apply the first coating. A fantastic finishing coating will need two or three layers of paint. To get rid of those spills and paint drips, you need to have a clean rag made of cotton near you, as well as some epoxy thinner that will clean solvent based paints well.

I love this paint and go for it because it has a clean finish, is resistant to acid and salts, while it is durable and tough in the long run. Well, but these can only be attained from proper preparation, proper application and the time that you will give it to cure before you bring back your vehicle or allow traffic back.

Enjoy your home improvement projects, there is certainly no need for tesrs

If You Want To paint your home and you have never tackled this sort of home improvement before.Read these few useful tips first. I’m sure you know many people who will give you advice as you proceed.

Pale colour schemes will enhance the space in smaller rooms. More intense colours can be used in larger rooms without making it feel smaller. Likewise, for rooms that do not get a lot of natural light, lighter colours in an eggshell paint will help to reflect light and brighten the place. Try not to use white, though, it tend to look cold and clinical – and it very quickly becomes grubby. Another reason to use eggshell paint is that it does accept the occasional wipe down. Very useful if you have young children.

Having chosen the colours you are going to use (No mean feat with all those colour paint charts to choose from), now you must decide if you are going to decorate the walls yourself or get a contractor to do it for you. Painting the walls is an easier route if you are doing it yourself. It is also a lot less expensive than wallpaper so it is much less a disaster if you do not like the result, and have to redo it.

The key to a good finish is preparation-preparation-preparation. Clear the space of as much furnisher as possible before you start. Cover the rest with at least two layers of cloth. Make sure you adequately protect any floors and carpets. Wash the walls and woodwork thoroughly using a slightly caustic solution so that you remove any grease that has accumulated over the years. Next fill all the small cracks and holes with filler, several layers may be required for larger holes. The filler will usually shrink as it dries. Give it 24hours to fully dry, then rub it down thoroughly with sandpaper  so it is very smooth. Next, use sandpaper rub down all the woodwork. Getting down to the bare wood is the best option, but this is not always possible so make sure your woodwork is smooth.

Now start at the top and work downwards. Start with the ceiling, and make sure it is fully dry before moving on. Next place masking tape at the very edge of the ceiling so that you get a very straight line when you paint the walls. Do not leave the masking tape on for to long, it will be difficult to get off without damaging your newly painted ceiling.

Using rollers rather than brushes for the large areas will usually give a more uniform finish. To get good coverage and depth in the finish, you may need to use several coats when using a roller, even so the roller will use les paint that a brush, it will dry faster, go on much faster and therefore, even though you are applying more than one coat it will still be faster.

Next comes the woodwork. Again, the walls should be masked where they meet the woodwork. Then using a small paintbrush give the woodwork an undercoat. The undercoat will help the top coat to adhere better and will therefore last longer. It also gives a much smoother final finish if the undercoat is lightly sanded. It is normal to use gloss paint on woodwork. This washes easier and takes the considerable amount of touching that woodwork gets. Trying to paint too thick a coat can produce a poor finish. Far better to apply two thin coats. Be sure your first coat of paint is properly dry before applying a second coat.

If for any reason you have to stop painting for a while, wrap your paintbrushes tightly in clingfilm. .It prevents air getting to them and will stop them drying out. Even after you have thoroughly cleaned your brushes, it is still useful to wrap your brushes. There are always occasions when you need to make good you decorations after disasters, so always keep any left over paint

Always open windows slightly before painting the frames. Paint will securely glue the windows permanently shut!  The same applies to doors. When painting doors, the rule is that you paint those parts of the frame that can be seen when it is open. Or in the case of an inward opening door, when it is closed.

One last thing. Take your time. Take enjoyment from the pleasure of watching the transformation of your room. Home improvement should be enjoyable. If you find you have hated every minute of it, then next time you want a rooom painted, save up to pay somebody else to do it for you. If you don’t enjoy the process, then you will tend to rush and skimp the work and the end result will not be so good.
